Internships & Volunteers

We depend heavily on the interest, motivation, and hard work of volunteers.

Volunteers undertake a variety of tasks which bring them into direct contact with our visiting speakers and experts as well as with substantive work in international relations.  Volunteers and interns also help to sustain the administration and management of the Council.

Typical volunteer activities include coordinating speaker arrivals and needs, meeting and assisting speakers and visitors, accompanying speakers to editorial sessions at local media, assistance on fund-raising projects, and service on our Program Committee.

Closely related to our volunteer program is the Council’s Intern Program for university students.  Over the years of its existence, the Council has provided internships for a great many students from a variety of Virginia and “out of state” colleges and universities.  Interns have, in addition to helping manage the Council’s work flow, undertaken research projects, written articles for our Newsletter, prepared marketing and publicity documents, and organized events.

We endeavor to provide each intern with a well-planned project related where possible to the intern’s special interests and needs and to meet educational institutions’ specific requirements for intern programs.

Further information on our volunteer and intern opportunities is available from the Council’s business office at (804) 644-0083 or via e-mail.
